The Last Dinner Party
The Last Dinner Party debuted in 2023, but their music feels as if it was made in Medieval times, when flowing dresses and corsets were in fashion, and carriages were the common form of transportation. Their music is a combination of witchy romance and modern feminism. This theme has been carried from their first album, Prelude to Ecstasy, which was released in early 2024, to their latest album, From the Pyre, that was released on Oct. 17, 2025. Their songs include motifs of girlhood, religion and heartbreak, but lead singer Abigail Morris sings with a confident and dramatic tone, not letting the painful lyrics sway her. Although all their songs enchants the listener, their single “Nothing Matters” encapsulates their theatric sound and outshines the rest of their releases because of its relatable lyrics and charming melody.
The band consists of five members — Georgia Davies, Lizzie Mayland, Morris, Aurora Nishevci and Emily Roberts — who met at King’s Cross College in London and formed their band in 2021, according to rollingstone.co.uk. They have been nominated for nine different awards and won Best New Artist at the 2024 BRIT awards, according to trinitylaban.ac.uk.
The Last Dinner Party will grace the stage of the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles with their gothic presence and passionate songs on May 29 with the band Automatic performing alongside them.
Wet Leg
If anyone needed a song to blast in their Y2k decorated bedroom and dance to, any song off of Wet Leg’s album moisturizer would be a classic choice. The guitars, bass and drums create a catchy and post–punk rhythm while the accompanying lyrics provide a witty lightness to their songs. Although their most streamed song on Spotify is “mangetout,” it was their single “Chaise Lounge” that catapulted them into the hearts and playlists of fans, according to blog.roughtrade.com.
Wet Leg was founded in 2019 by Hester Chambers and Rhian Teasdale, two college friends from the Isle of Wight who just wanted to have some girlish fun and decided to start a band. Three years later they were nominated for five Grammys and won two. Additionally, at the 2026 Grammys they were nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Alternative Music Performance and Best Album Cover, according to grammymuseum.org.
Wet Leg’s carefree and raw sound is introduced through their name which originated from the emoji combination of the splash emoji and the leg emoji that was randomly typed on their keyboard. Their ridiculous band name is used as a reminder to the band members to “not take themselves too seriously,” according to onthewight.com.
At this year’s Coachella festival, Wet Leg will perform their whimsical and funky songs on the third day of the festival on April 12 and 19.
The Linda Lindas
When asked to name a punk band, most people’s minds go to punk pioneers like The Ramones or The Clash, yet not many people think of the quartet of teenage girls that go by The Linda Lindas. They first gained audiences’ attention with a performance at the LA Public Library of their song “Racist, Sexist Boy” which encapsulates their lyrics that portray their anger towards society, social issues and the feeling of growing up, according to sourceaudio.net. However, their resentful songs are polished with the lead singer’s youthful voice.
The Linda Lindas, like every other band, has a drummer, guitarist, bassist and singer but unlike other bands, The Linda Lindas have homework every night. Band members Lucia de la Garza, Mila de la Garza, Bela Salazar and Elosie Wong range from the ages 13 to 17 and have to balance writing songs and writing essays, according to thelindalindas.com. This is seen in their music since The Linda Lindas sing about what they know best, which is the experience of being teenage girls and the societal pressures and self–confidence problems that come with that. They also blend elements of their Asian and Latinx heritage into their music by featuring some songs in Spanish, according to thelindalindas.com.
This LA band might lack years of experience but they do not lack prestige. The Linda Lindas have already opened for renowned bands like The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Paramore and The Smashing Pumpkins, according to thelunacollective.co. These four girls are curating the new sound of the Riot Grrrl movement while honoring the legacy of the Riot Grrrl sound through their collaboration with Bikini Kill members on the song “Lost in Thought,” according to pastemagazine.com.
Although the Linda Lindas are not currently touring, they were recently in the studio and released their single “California Sun” on Feb. 4.
